Just read the many posts re the Hall.
I'm level 34..my Dragon is maxed out on all but Polymorph...Dragon has Offence..34..Defence 47..Hit points..1254 and Mana..896..
Even changing the setting to LOW/EASY, I can't keep my Dragon alive. I've done all the Fortresses, and they were easy..both for the Dragon and Hero....me..
Tried most of the tips on hitting and retreating and so forth, but even with the "Meat Shield" taking some of the heat..I can only kill the 1st nest.
I'm about ready to forget it cause it's more of a pain than any kind of enjoyment. Is my Dragon too weak. Have done all the quests so I can't raise it's level any. It needs 60 or so thousand more to level up..
Does my level have any bearing on my Dragon's stats??
Thanks..

Have you tried just concentrating on the flying opponents for awhile? Sticking to Fire Sphere should keep you relatively safe if you keep moving. As long as you can kill opponents faster than the nests can spit them out you should clear enough to be able to take out the next nest without taking too much damage, after which you should be able to clear the remaining opponents faster.
The best defense is a good offense... maybe try a piece of armour that gives you a 40% offense bonus, rather than defense. If you are already taking out flying opponents with one Fire Sphere, this should at least speed up damage to nests.
You don't have to take out the nests all at once. If you start taking damage you can break off, fly away to heal and then return. They will start to regenerate, but you can heal faster.
The dragon's base offense and defense are equal to the character level. The base hit points and mana are equal to 760 plus 4 times the character level. The level also comes into play in the actual combat calculations.

There is a barrier in the first section blocking progress until you take out several of the nests.

I had the 40% Offence on until I got to the Hall....when my Dragon got kicked all over the place, I changed it to the 40% Defence, and lowered the game play to EASY... hoping it would help....it didn't.
I hate long, drawn out fights...my Dual Weapons are doing..412-458 melee and 174-244 magic damage.. with 6 in Bleed and Life Leech..so up until now, it's been ME, who sliced and diced the bad guys....not so for my DRAGON....He did try the shoot/retreat..but ultimately croaked....The nests are spitting 'em out quicker than he can take 'em out...a no win situation..
If I play the game again, is there anyway to build my Dragon level, higher??
He killed everything, but two Ballistas in Broken Valley....there's nothing else for him to do regarding building his levels...
If a game becomes more pain than pleasure, I usually tank it....And, since this is the final battle, with most of the game already done....hmmmmmm

The dragon and human experience points are common; if you could level in human form your dragon would be stronger. Perhaps you could level in Keara's fortress (using the spawning opponents in the outer headquarters section), if you have a save before then and don't mind redoing the end of the game.
Level 34 is about average for the end of the game; I got to level 36 without trying too hard (I delayed going to sentinel island so I could level and get the best effect from the level-up bonus mindreading the island in the first encounter, and put a few points into Wisdom, though mostly from equipment bonuses). To get above 37 I think you would have to spend time in Keara's fortress or the ministry with spawning opponents.
The add-on is adjusting the combat mechanics so they are not so strongly level dependent. If you can not get through that section with a different technique, or spamming potions (I believe you can use a rejuvenation potion while waiting for the healing potion cooldown), and are not going to start a new character anyway, you could just hang on to a save before entering the Hall of Echoes, and see if it is any easier with the add-on / next patch.

Hi..started a new game...Will use Keara and the Ministry to level up..Wasn't sure about the Dragon/Hero "common point" thing. I'll keep that in mind, this time.
When is the add on coming out..or another patch...I'm glad to hear that. With all the attention going to Dragon Age, and some of the undeserved, lower reviews...aka .. Gamespot, I didn't think the Dev's would do much more with this game...
Thanks for the info.
PS..You delayed going to Sentinal Isle...please explain a bit..this was about exp and mindreading?? I know I get less exp per bad guy, and more per quest, as I level up...but I don't get the Sentinal Isle connection to this....

The add-on should be out August or September. I would guess the patch would be out either the same time or a little earlier.
Larian has been good about supporting previous titles, even after publishers for some regions had stopped doing so. With additional content planned for D2:ED, which I assume the publishers would have known about fairly early, I would expect that to continue, even with the extra bureaucracy and restrictions involved with the Xbox version, etc.
Your first encounter on sentinel island you can mindread to go up a level, so the higher level you are the more of an experience bonus that will be. I made it to level 18 in the fjords, so that mindread brought me up to level 19. Even with the lower experience from opponents, I most likely came out ahead compared to going to sentinel island at level 16, jumping to 17 and getting slightly more experience per opponent (the extra experience fighting tough opponents in order to level would compensate somewhat for the lower experience later, as well). In any case, if you at least make sure you go up a level before taking the teleporter to the island, you will get a full level bonus when you get there.
Do you get more experience for quests at higher levels? It helps to delay solving quests, so you get more experience from combat, but I think the experience rewards are fixed (item rewards do get better at higher levels, though). It also helps to do any mindreading early, so you pay off the experience debt at a lower level, when monster kills give more experience.
Hang on to items with a Wisdom bonus, and you can get a little extra experience turning in quests. For combat I'm not sure if the Wisdom bonus is a huge benefit, considering at least part of the bonus would be canceled out by leveling faster and reducing the experience for some opponents.
Leave Keara's headquarters and the ministry until the end. If you end up not needing to level, then you will not waste time fighting spawned opponents. If you do need to level, then you can reload and not have much to repeat.

After reading these posts, I went and turned in a quest from Broken Valley ... I got 500 exp and the option to take 125 more. Reloaded, played enough to level up, turned in the same quest, and got the same amount of exp...500/125.
So, maybe the quest exp is fixed. But, I see where waiting to turn in quests, makes sense re leveling up. Good info..And this time I'll maximize Sentinal Isle..I missed a few quests last time...
Thanks all..
