Hi,

Maybe someone can assist. I used a barrel to store all my stuff. Probably had too many items in it. Emptied barrel, but apparently there are still 4 items in it. Scrolled all the way down, doesn't help, I think the items are too far right and out of view. Is there a way to get the items out of the barrel? I'm patched to 1.47.

Thanks for any hints!

I assume you already checked carefully? There are a couple items which are either small or coloured similar to the background of the inventory window, which can make them hard to spot.

Try moving your mouse down the right edge of the inventory, to see if you can catch the end of something. I ran into this problem once as well, though in an unpatched game, after really loading a barrel with loot. I thought this was subsequently fixed, but obviously not completely. Did you install the patch before starting the game, or after you ran into this problem? By moving the mouse cursor slowly along the right edge of the inventory I was able to catch the edge of a spear when the description popped up (though the spear itself was not visible), but lost a couple other items. Fortunately I was only dumping miscellaneous stuff in there to sell later.
After that I was careful about piling too much stuff in one spot, since the problem only appeared when something was dropped in a very crowded inventory, so it could not fit where dropped or close by.

With the 1.47 patch the weight penalty was changed, so that you can carry more than your capacity, but can not move when so encumbered. This means you can dump most of your loot into a summoning doll's inventory (though not quest or unique items), and have much less stuff to store in barrels for later use (equipment you don't meet the requirement for yet, spare potions or arrows, etc).

If you are missing any quest items, you can get a replacement (Inventory files), though that doesn't sound like a problem.

Thank You, Raze. for your reply. It's my own fault, I was putting a lot of items in there. The items are not visible at all, even with a careful cursor check. I know better than to do that now. Kind of a bummer, since I was putting good things in there. Too bad there is no way to "highlight all", something like that. Regarding the patch, I patched my game as soon as I bought it a few weeks back. This problem came from barrels from act two. Incidentally... not sure if this is a well known occurrence... but, I was using the "linked" barrels from the battlefields. Worked great. When I was leaving act 2, I wanted to continue to use them, so I brought them both with me into 3. Surprise, the barrels are no longer linked, but both of them had my 987 items... only this time removing from one didn't remove from the other. I successfully and unintentionally duped everything (including the problem of the 4 out-of-view items) Kind of a cool thing, I just wish I had known about it earlier, would have duped my holy water.
Thanks again.

Well, the game should not be placing items in an unavailable location, regardless of how much stuff you load into a container. A 'select all' or 'take all' function would be nice in some situations.

The linked barrels are known; some people find them handy to transfer items while going through the BF dungeons. I don't think anyone else has discovered they can be used to duplicate items, though. I always sold off all my spare loot before moving to the next act, so just had a barrel of food and spare potions, spare equipment and any set or unique items found that act to take with me.

I'm sure someone will test that for you.

Well I have the same problem 15 items out of sight. I put all my items in a barrel and give it to the doll.
