Can agree with most of them. Especially NWN and Morrowind I would've added Freelancer to the list though. I read the first few 3 days ago (the list was incomplete) and though FL will be in the list...

Black & white isn't overated... It's just something that has as much poeple who think it's brilliant as poeple who thinj it's utter crap...

I was a little surprised to see the SNES Donkey Kong Country in that list... But it's an "overrated" list, and maybe in its days, DKC was indeed a little overhyped. The comments in that article about the groundbreaking graphics make sense (although IMO they still are among the nicest all time SNES graphics)... But I'm a fan of the DKC series, not because of any hype (never knew it was hyped until I read this article  ), but because of reasons of which none are mentioned in the article. I have to admit that the quality of the first DKC is a lot less than its two SNES sequels though, but they only mention DKC2 and 3 as if those we're mere copies from DKC  ... What make these games so great and different from most other platformers to me, are the very well balanced game design, the levels (designs, themes...) of which none are like another in the game (except in the orginal DKC), the controls, the characters (both goodies and baddies) (not so much in the first DKC though), the great music, the overall perfect timing... I used to be a fan of the (first) Super Mario games as well, but the quality of Donkey Kong exceeds those games by... eh gallons (not speaking of any Mario games higher tha the SNES platform, and definitely not of the Wario series, which is also grrreat!)
Oh well, I fell in love with these apes as a kid and I still like them, not out of pure nostalgy, and definitely not because they were hyped... How dare they, those poor monkeys

Don't mistake "Gamespy's 25 worst games of all times" and "Gamespy's 25 most overrated Games of All Times". If NWN or Black and White or Alice or... is in the list it DOES NOT mean it is a bad game, ok? It means that it was overhyped.
Black and White WAS overhyped. Look at all the cover stories written about it.
And look at the number of B&W players today.
NWN WAS over hyped (check the box: "the only game you'll ever need... the game which will change everything...")
Halo WAS overhyped: it was "the game" and PC Mags cried when they learned that it will be 'Xbox Xclusive' but look at it now: it's far from being the most original game.

Why is FF7 overrated? 85% average is not too much, imho: DD got 83% average and I consider it underrated (because of some lame sites).

DD was not...
overhyped: Unreal II -> everyone previewed it very good, everyone knew about it, wasn't as good as tought
underhyped: Divine Devotion -> it hasn't got many previews, turns out be a very good game.
Rifrunner on the otherhand is hyped.

Well there are several interviews out and there are plenty more to come (so I've been told) and there is one short weekly feature on RPGVault.
I don't consider Riftrunner to be hyped yet. It needs a lot more attention than what it has now to be considered hyped.
