It has begun as an idea in the inofficial german chat ... not really serious in the very beginning, but soon getting more and more sophisticated.
I speak of the idea to produce some sort of patch that allows german users of
to use the english speech - files with their game.
(I think, had I written this on April, 1st, everybody would've thought it was an April's Joke.
)
The idea was originally, to let the germans here produce their own speech files by letten them record their own speech, and send the files to a centre, where they are compiled and prepared for a use in all those cases where the english version has real speech (apart from the cut-scenes).
The whole discussion process is still in the middle between joking and seriousness, but some have said that in other games it was possibly.
Also, it could be possible - that was my personal thought - to include some sort of interfaces in
2 for the case it happens there, too. My thought was that in early development defined interfaces could later in the complete game be used to include our own speech files.
Well, to be honest, I still wionder where this discussion might lead us to ...
