Hey,

Currently there is quite a large variety in weapons and armor however they aren't all that interesting and this is because of two reasons :

- too much bad to very bad weapon drops in late game
- and they don't offer much visualy, what I would do is make the weapon and armor graphics bigger in the inventory so they look cool instead of small logo's. Also make the really good weapons look cooler. Actually , the weapon graphics in Diablo 2 were very good so something like that would do.

Hey Yannos.

I don't know, as you might remember, Diablo 2 had square-based inventory: every item took X squares. BD has another inventory system, which is arguably better for a big tactical RPG it is.
Don't you think so?

There is no variety in weapons: you mean the 2d icons or the 3d models on your character?
What exactly do you mean as "bad weapons"?

Cheers,
-Baz.

he probably means how they look when they are in the inventory window....
you know... they all look the same for each weapon...no matter what the stats.

maybe "beef up" the extra special weapons, so it/they stand out.

By bad weapons he means low quality weapons.

The items are rather small in the inventory. I did have time working out what some were from time to time, and there's no problem with my eyesight. Perhaps just double-sizing everything in your inventory (without pixelation)?

Yeah, just make the really good items stand out as now I find a lot of weapons who are completely useless to me in every aspect. So what I really want is ; Less drops but when something gets dropped it is of decent quality. (atleast acording to my level).

I believe drops are related to luck and not so much to your level.
But besides that, it would be nice if the unique items are really unique in the game and have a unique image as well.

I don't know. Those seem way too big, Yannos.
But I see what you mean. Nevertheless, it would mean extra hours of work for Larian if you want a new pic for every item quality.

Diablo 2's items were 10xs better. BD already copys their system so why not just go the whole 9 yards instead of a watered down version of it. In D2 you were always on the lookout for good treasure and you never knew if a monster would drop a godly rare item. In BD everything past act 2 was a waste of time to even look out. The itmes bought in the battelfields were 2x's better than anything I found in a treasure chest or slain monster.

D2's items were better, because they were designed for that game. is a different game in a different universe and I don't see a point to copy *everything* from a game that sold just incredibly well.

The inventory of D2 reappears in Drakan as well ... it's kind of nice, but faar to restricted , I mean that it gets to easily full. I HATE it when I have to sell uniques in D2, just because I have no more room / space in my inventory !

The positive aspect is that the items in this kind of inventory are usually bigger than in other games -> more sight for the eye / eye-candy !

There is nothing original in D2 system. In addition, BD isn't the only game with that item system. "Watered-down"? I won't say. Just because there is a colour to the item it doesn't mean it was "ripped off from D2", agree?
For example, Degrade Quality is new to BD.

Yes, but you did get good items on Battlefields, so I see no reason to complain.
Also, have you finished BD?

D2 took some ideas from of other things(gauntlet especially) but definately improved upon them substantially. Divine Divinity would never have existed if it werne't for Diablo so you have to compare the two, since it is obvious what they were thinking of when they made the battle and item system. It's not like DD/BD was thinking of gauntlet or some other game. I not bashing BD either because I liked both games but just think they could have been twice as good if they fixed some things.

There's nothing wrong with ripping off the odd idea. All developers do it. As long as they improve on the original, it's better for the consumer in the end

we could even wax philosophical and iterate:

every human being rips off pieces of his identity from her experience of the world around them as they grow and learn and experience, thus using these borrowed pieces of information to form who they are. these pieces are added to previously installed programming which was applied by parental units. the synthesis of all of this information helps us to structure an image of our being and our world view, based on internal conjecture which is influenced by external stimuli.

since this is happening over time and involves a great deal of grey matter processing, apparently we don't notice this. of course, this is just my opinion.

Apart from multiplayer (which has been mentioned), something for the modding community might be a good idea (which may have also been mentioned ).

Modding has been considdered by the developers, but unfortunately the engine is not user friendly enough yet. Perhaps in time...

Actually D2 uses another engine. Since the game is in 3d, I guess some minor modifications are possible.
