About animals I'm totally pro !

But I don't think that all animals should be "killable". I don't have the feeling that this would be "right".

What I mean is that although we have the ability to kill everything in real life, it need not be so in games, too. In hack & slash games people are rather tending towards killking everything just for gaining experience points. Could you imagine how empty the world in real life would be if there were experience points ?

And I say : No Star Wars. Reagan's idea wasn't particularly good.

I like the areas to remain clear to but what if when they are clear you get a sorce of migration of friendly beings..be it traders, animals and the such.

I suppose its to much to ask to have a situation where when you clear an area say 4 traders move in and you can trade with them.

Or a small family builds a house and after some time gives you a quest...E.g you clear out the area in Azeroth and clear the troll cave. Then a family moves in(builds a house) and then a new set of monsters terrorises them and you have to clear the cave again.

Hence you have a sort of ladder or where accomplishing one thing leads to another. Of course you are free not to help the family or clear ot the troll cave as you chose.

This wil get rid of make the game less barren when you clear the area.

I suggest that if DD2 does have a DD2: Special Limited Edition, it comes w/ Divine Divinity and Beyond Divinity....

...AND NO STARFORCE.

There was no public complaining about Starforce when the game publishers decided to use Starforce (at the time it was suppose to be the latest and greatest new thing).

Given the problems Larian had just with adding the copy protection and getting a game patch to work with Starforce, it is highly unlikely they would wish to use it again, even if there wasn't very, very, very vocal protests against it.

1st. Hireling's.
We should have atleast 1 Companion (Druid,Elven Ranger, etc)

2nd: Pets.
I'd love having a faithful wolf by my side at all times.

3rd: Houses.
Like DD I would like to own my own (House,Castle,Abbey)

4th: Customizable Character.
Complete Customization like:
Male Elven Thief, Long Black Hair & etc.

5th: Military.
Able to join (Factions,Guilds)

6th: Furniture.
Keep that feature (Stealing furniture for Home)

7th: Larger World
LARGER WORLD lol

My 7 Cents

The guild/owning house gives me an idea.

Assume you have these guilds

Fighter
Mage
Theif
Assassin
Ranger
Merchants.

Assuming you please the head of the guild enough...either by trading with him or completing all the quests he asks you to do, you get the option of building a house wherever you please but each house has different sets of furniture and vary in size.

E.g with Fighters you get a small castle, complete with 8 guards, a stable.

Now your castle has 3 rooms- the main room complete with roaring fireplace/large table and weapons/armour racks so you can store weapons armour.

You have your own cook in the kitchen and your bedroom.

If your a mage you get a spiral tower buildings(2 floors) and a potions cabinet/bookcase/ chest and a few bottles of wine as well as a cupboard.
A do not disturb sign appears at the egde of your property.

A Theif gets a decent house but with lots of hiding places to conceal weapons/armour instead of a weapons/armour rack.

An assassin gets a fairly rich house with tables to store posion potions. The assassins home is rigged with traps in case the owner finds himself under attack.
The assasins weapons are stored on the walls.

A ranger has a small hut built in the woodlands in a fairly secluded place.
Contains lots of plants/pots and a hammock instead of a bed. 1 giant room where you have a homley fire, table and a bow/sword rack, a few dummies to store leather armours.

The merchants house is very grand indeed where you have 2 stories and quarters for your servants and where you have a butler/cook/4 guards and a gardener.
Ask the butler for whatever you wish(food wise and he will bring it to you).

A love interest that is interesting and not just some quest goal.

Personally I would love a love interest that does something. He/she could travel to the local inn's to follow the hero. She could inform him about the village he is in, raise his reputation in the village, heal the hero, give the hero a place to sleep and maybe deal out some side-quest from that village. One thing I didn't like about was that after you get your love interest she/he just doesn't matter any more. A bit like the love interest in overlord but even more involved in the game.

Also it give you a familiar face in the village and connect you more to the game. (other games: "Well I am never going to see that guy again"). If you keep seeing a couple of the same people once in a while at different places.(travelling merchants, circus, companions) you feel connected to them.

Would be interested if you married a member of a widesprread clan of merchants.
And news get around fast ...

"Hey you, isn't you that guy who married our lovely Rita from Evermoore, the granddaughter of our patriarch, the Duke of Evermoore, who invented this chain of food shops ?"

Maybe they could introduce families under/above the species, guild organisations along with the reputation system.

Something like the families Harry Potter (Potters, Weasley's) or the Tooks or Baggins from lord of the rings. Then you could be affiliated by race, guild, family. This could give complex interactions.

You have fallen from grace in the wizard guild, but luckely the guild leader is a member of the *** family and you just saved a member of the family and word gets around...
