Hi this is thw first time i post on the divine divinity forum , but i already found it useful for the manual installing tip (but a working installer in the game would have defintely been better <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" /> )
Now i got another problem , i was playing when the game crashed and the computer rebooted... when i tried later to load a saved game i discovered that they did't worked anymore!!.
I have 2 characters in the game and the saved games not working are onty the ones related to the char. i was playing when the crash happened.
Any suggestion?
Tanks in advance!

If the game or Windows crashes and Windows reboots, it can decide some recently created or modified files are corrupt, and 'fix' them.

Check the number of files in the saved game folder (in '..\Divine Divinity\Run\savegames'). Missing files might cause the game to crash when trying to load. A new game should have 22 files, after going to either Verdistis or the Dark Forest it should have 27, after going to both it should have 32, after getting to the wastelands it should have 37, and after getting to the Black Ring dungeon it should have 42.

22 files, it's ok, i wonder how its possible to have all 5 savegames corrupted, since they all carry the whole information about the character(right?)...
if i send the saved game to someone can he/she tell me if it works?

thank you for your fast reply.

Yes, each save contains the complete data for that point in the game, so something corrupting the last 5 saves of a particular character is unlikely. One person had a crash a few minutes after exiting DD. After rebooting, Windows (or something else) had deleted the inv.b2 file from all of their saves; fortunately it is a zero byte file, so was trivial to replace.

It is possible something in the game was corrupted for that particular character (assuming you have two different character types on the go). Try starting a new game with the same class and gender as the character that crashes, and see if you can save and reload it.
If the new game crashes as well, you could try a clean reinstall of the game, as described in the Troubleshooting Tips topic (or try the file verification procedure, since the install program has problems on your system for some reason).

I solved the problem by reinstalling the game (even in the manual installation procedure i got a crc error, i had to install it on another computer a copy the files...).
Thanks a lot for your time!
