The first screenshots were not from the game itself, but a test area for the engine (ie the game itself didn't exist in a playable form a year ago). I don't recall if they mentioned if the Christmas screenshot was from the actual game, or not.

Lynn responded to the Errrrr.......Anybody Home ??? topic to say they were busy, and that "no news is good news".

yeah but still, I think that A LOT of people are losing intrest (I am for sure). I mean, give people SOMETHING to look forward to, an update of some sort, it only takes about 2 mins of their time and we're happy.

2 mins every 2 weeks, is that so much to ask ? ALL the game developpers give away some info. hell, I heard more about Duke Nuke'm For (n)ever than I have about Larians next project the last year. says enough doesn't it

I'm not losing interest, certainly not. Nor am I losing patience even. But I heartily agree some updates would be more than welcome. Even if it was just an artwork or some class info or a glimpse of the storyline or whatever really every month or so. That would truely mean a world of difference for the community.

Well maybe you are over estimating how far they are (or under estimating the work to create such a game). We know they are working hard and that they have a lot of work ahead of them.

That said, I do agree that some thing should be posted to know that they are still alive. It doesn't even have to be about the game. Just an interview with Lar about "the future evolution of RPG's", "what kind of technology is being used (example Procedural Game Content)" or Lar answers one Yes/no question from some one (mine is Do you like cofee?).Something like that will do (Lar is the Belgian Will Wright). Just something like that would do since I am of the judgement that gamers don't know what they want. (Nintendo's wii proved that).

Then again I think we don't know everything Larian does. Larian could be working on games that are not under the Larian name or other projects to ensure a stable cashflow.

But take comfort in the fact that they are working hard. Rather a good game then a rushed game. I rather wait 5 years for a good game than 5 months for a bad one. It looks like thay are going back to the roots (that was 9 years in development )

We don't know the internal workings of larian, for all we knwo the game could be 99% finished or have they started from scratch for the 3rd time. All we know is that they will release it when they think it is finished and not a moment sooner. We haven't even heard what publisher they will use.

The Age of Wonders community was facing very much the same problem.

So it isn't uncommon.

We had "some" vague information that the economie in div2, wil be very different then what we are used to be.
scroll abit down at @WAZZZ reply

good of you guys to point out this more-than-common problem in all RPG games. We have the gold issue covered, though. Expect the unexpected - our solution will not appeal to all, and might be a hard thing to swallow, but it works, and it shines.

Mmm it's cryptic.
soo you have to work for your "money" - in this case items/food
no more gold?
and it shines: soo maybe there will be sort of cristals we will use??

Maybe we can create a sticky topic with "What we know about DD2"

tech:

gamebryo as standard game engine (modified by larian)
Meqon for physics (has been bouht by Ageia)
Speedtree for vegetation
HDR lighting

Story:
It will pick up after the events of or a couple of years after that.
We return to Rivellon. (green fields yipee)

gameplay:

Player will be able to polymorf into a dragon.
New economics that "will not appeal to all, and might be a hard thing to swallow"

If they don't release anything, then maybe the impact will be much bigger if they can show us almost everything at once

hehehe nice way of puuting it

I am sure that when we get surprised, it will be big.... (i certainly hope so)... i am sure that they saying something to the effect.... "arggggg not ANOTHER thread on "when are we getting info about the next gen game"... dont they have anything better to do with their time???? "

lol i think we are acting like a bunch of "are we there yet?" kids in the back seat of the car.... (Make no mistake.... i am taking part in the "are we there yet"... cause its been a long ride.... i am sure we all would love to stop the car and get some info.... but it wont make the journey any shorter if we continiously ask "are we there yet"... I think they are trying to avoid another BD situation where they predict a release date, which gets postponed.... and postponed again... and then yet again....

is it done yet?

yeah, like most of u, i appreciate a bit of news from them Larians, at least to let us know how they are doing, if no screenie is available.

still i'm looking forward to what they have to offer.

@ Morbo -> maybe there were busy doing a non-Larian side project; Lordi.
