We're mostly gamers here in one form or another, so I thought I'd start a new thread to find out what people are playing at the moment, whether it's good, bad or indifferent. If this is a repeat of an older thread, then I say poo to that...time for a new thread! I'm currently playing: Bioshock - the spiritual successor to one of my favourite older games 'System Shock 2' It's creepy, and great to look at - with a good story. And even has Irish voice overs which makes it sound even more interesting to me. Bad points are some technical issues which don't appear to be getting fixed anytime soon. I can't play it with the shaders on or it'll crash. Medieval Total war 2 - I love big battles...smashy smashy... and great stragtey map too to play on.

All I'm playing now is The Kingdom of Loathing, a web-based CRPG. Loads of fun!

Heroes Of Might & Magic III(I have the complete collection, so it has both expansions on it). I had completed HOMM I and HOMM II: Gold(which has the expansion on it as well) before this(complete with every single scenario). My plan is to play evey HOMM game there is(including V and it's expansion).
Now that's dedication for ya...I'm lucky if I complete one game never mind a series!
I'm also playing Freelancer - online. Old space game that has a new mod called Discovery - play it online, bit like a watered down version of EVE Online, but without the subscription fee (which is always good)

i just got back my PC (a friend gutted it for spare parts which he replaced with newer & faster ones) & even though it's upgraded with some bells & whistles, i am not so happy. lost quite a huge chunk of data including save games (ok, maybe they're not so important), documents (now THOSE are), personal writings (*sob*), & collected pics (especially those abstract CG arts from artists no longer online). oh well, i suppose i will get over it soon.

It still might be possible to recover lost data. I am not sure exactly how to do it, but I have read that there are ways to possibly recover them.

well my data are mostly non-commercial stuff (therefore personal) so i don't think i want to spend that kind of money on data recovery. besides, such services are very very expensive. anyway, i am going to try out a method an online buddy suggested; use RescueCD (Linux OS) which is bootable & has utility to mount NTFS drive. this friend has used this successfully to recover data on crashed HD. i still have hope.

To be on-topic : I'm currently playing Ultima 7 through Exult. The graphics are old, but the more I play it, the more I like it. It reminds me very much of my beloved Nordlandtrilogie (Englisch version: Realms of Arcania). I was quite happy to get it installed from the old floppies. SDome floppies from another Ultima package ("The first Trilogy") weren't readable anymore. But on the other hand, I could get the floppies of Ultima Underworld 1 working as well. The only *real* disadvantage is that the map of my version of Ultima 7 is printed on paper, and the numbers (coordinates) aren't very readable. But I've found a workaround for that with the handbook, which has at least the longitude and altitude lines in it. On UltimaDot there's a good solution book in PDF format for that, if anyone tries to play it again. And Exult, by the way, is a *huge* advantage over the old interface ! The words look much smoother, for example.

Do you have a link for the english version of Exult and do you need the Ultima VII disks to play? I own a couple of versions of Ultima VII, but I am not sure if they work anymore.

I have Ultima 7 Disquettes, thank you. I even managed to install the game from them under DOSBOX.
The most tedious point was when the install program wanted to "combine shapes" or so, which took about 10 Minutes under DOSBOX in my unspecial configuration. )
And I've already downloaded and installed Exult, I'm using it, than you.
You can find Exult here : http://exult.sourceforge.net/
When you change the screen resolution in Exult (you do this via opening the inventory and then cklicking onto the 5,24" floppy symbol), be sure that you'll have ALWAYS the inventory in the middle of the screen ... It happened to me twice that I had a high resolution and lowered it, in wchich the effect was that the inventory was outside the screen, so to say, and I couldn't play further on anymore.
I was glad as I found out that there also is a keyboard shortcut (I think it was with ALT) to change the screen resolution, because when the Avatar's inventory is outside the screen, you cannot change it back anymore through the menu.

on PC i'm playing: - supreme commander - F22 ADF (flight sims from the 90's but oh so good)
on Xbox 360: - Forza 2 - Colin Mc Rae Dirt - Burnout revenge (waiting for the new burnout paradise though)
on the 360 i'm waiting for: - SKATE or tony hawk Proving grounds (depends on reviews, but TH seems to get the upperhand since skate tends to be too difficult) - burnout paradise - project gotham racing 4 - alan wake - and lot's more

Not that I regularly post here, but I feel like contributing with the games I spend most of my game-playing time on these days: City of Heroes/Villains. Superhero MMORPG programmed by Cryptic Studios and produced by NCSoft. It has a POWERFUL Costume editor to make your character look unique, and a pretty flexible skills system too. Not quite as popular as the big World of Warcraft, but in my opinion it's more fun at this time. Titan Quest with the Immortal Throne expansion. Good ol' Diablo style RPG, with a skill system I find much better than either of the Diablo games. Civilization 4 with Beyond the Sword expansion. Loves me Empire Building TBS, and in my opinion the BTS expansion brings Civ4 to be the best Civ game I've ever played. (And I've played from Civ1-4, Alpha Centauri with Alien Crossfire expansion, and both Call to Power games) Wizardry 8. Fun little CRPG, little roleplay but I find the combats and system quite fun. Combats are turn-based, but the game world is 3D and you move around in real time when not fighting. And of course I go back to and every little while. Such excellent Action RPGs. Every single one of these, I play on my PC. Don't own any Consoles or Handhelds, and don't want to.
