Whenever I try to launch the american verison of the game that came out today I get this message

"Data is not compatible with this version"

Windows 7 64-bit
Ati Radeon HD 4870 X2 2GB
Intel Core 2 Quad 3.4gigs
8 Gigs Of Ram (Timings 5-5-5-12)

Confirmed - my copy won't startup either. I've got a 32-bit version of Windows 7 that I'll try, and a 32-bit Vista version. Hopefully one of those will work.

Updated - Vista seems ok. Will try 7x32 after I get my play fix in (which may be a few hours). Has anyone else had any luck with Windows 7x64?

I assume you tried reinstalling the game?

Someone with Win 7 64 and an ATI HD4870 reported occasional graphical artifacts (with the UK or Australian version of the game), which they fixed by running the game as administrator and disabling desktop composition. Maybe that would help? Right click on the D2:ED shortcut, select Properties and switch to the Compatibility tab.


The game does not support crossfire, so you could try disabling it (some people have also renamed the executable to get the drivers to use the associated profile for another game).

I have the Australian version and I am running Win 7 X64 for me the game wont start either. It did install it just won't lauch

I thought the release date is 5 jan of2010.

just to add re-installing did not fix the problem and yes i have al teh required driver etc installed

I did as well, but Gamestop apparently either broke the release date or just started selling it a week early.

I'll try reinstalling today and see if I have any more luck.

No problems so far on Vista

UPDATE: Just reinstalled. Works fine. I'm really confused - I didn't do anything different this time around - no "run as admin" or anything. O_o
