Good Day Everyone!

First, a bit of background. I've recently picked up Divinity II (DivII) and like some others, I've run into minor issues with this game. I spent time searching the forums and researching this-n'-that, after a while I realized I had stockpiled a good bit of notes. Well, the following contains a rolled-up version of all the information I could find on... stuttering graphics, video rendering issues, low FPS, light 'blooms', black lines, and general poor performance.

Second, the disclaimer. The following are nothing more then the best ideas on the forums; other than "First Aid" (do a search), which should be everyone's first stop. These suggestions are oriented towards the PC, NOT the xBox. Sorry.

Yes, I expect to edit this post. Please, notify me and I'll update or hopefully the Site Admins can take over if I fall off the radar.

Third, The Helping Hand. The following should be used a guideline and NOT scripture. Please offer your suggestions, insights, and hardware configuration (simplified) to this thread. Hopefully, we as a forum can glean some insights for the betterment of all.

Oh yah...Try at your own risk! hehe

Hunt Well Slayers!!

The following is best when using more then 4 GB; which means running 64-bit Operating System. Windows 7 Ultimate or Windows XP Professional 64bit Edition; for example.

New Setting (requires reboot)
At Command Prompt C:\>fsutil behavior set memoryusage 2

Default Setting (requires reboot)
At Command Prompt C:\>fsutil behavior set memoryusage 0
A setting of (1) means use system default memory plan.
A setting of (0) means use setting of (1).

--ATI Graphics Cards - Enable Anti-aliasing & General Performance
Changing the executable (program) name to Crysis.exe will trigger ATI Catalyst CC to adopt certain internal fixes. This has shown promising results with other games; including Divinity II. My recommendation is to make a copy of "Divinity2.exe" and name it "Crysis.exe". Then update your desktop shortcut and re-apply settings with the Compatibility tab.

Path: [DriveLetter]:\Divinity II - Ego Draconis\BIN\
Goal: Copy "Divinity2.exe"; paste as "Crysis.exe"

Update the "Divinity II - Ego Draconis" shortcut on the desktop.
[1] Right click the shortcut
[2] On the Shortcut tab, go to "Target"
[3] Within the Target box, at the end, change "Divinity2.exe" to "Crysis.exe"
[4] Within the Target box, the very first character is a double quote "
[5] Within the Target box, the very last character is a double quote "
[6] Press "OK" to save settings
[7] Right click the shortcut, again
[8] Go to Compatibility
[9] Reapply all settings previously used.
[10] Enjoy!

Cheers to All and Happy Gaming!!

Graphics card ATI x1950xt with 10.2 drivers: unsolvable video issues, but 'playable'. Average frame rates 25-30.

Graphics card ATI HD 5770 with 10.3 drivers: No video issues...Gaming Heaven! Average frame rates, 55 to 60.

I'm not 100% positive the physical card was the true solution...I did completely uninstall the ATI drivers, reboot, install the new video card, and applied new 10.3 drivers. Video card...or...drivers?

Other:
CPU: AMD Dual Core @ 3.0Ghz, good
CPU: AMD Phemnon II Quad Core @ 3.0Ghz, good..plus (slightly better frame rates)

what are the best changes to be made to increase GFX performance?
I think HDR is very heavy so I turned it off but no noticable changes detected.
I'm now think I should play with the shadows settings a bit, maybe turn to medium or so
or is there another settings I should try first.

a list of what things have the most impact on GFX performance would be nice

There is a presets in drop-down list on the GFX settings window.

yeahn i'm not a presets fan, i'd rather tweak the options myself. some prefer good shadows, other don't care about them and rather have more AA or so.
that's why i'd like to know what has the most impact and what has less impact.
i'm going to change some things from the first aid kits, but i'd like to know more

my PC is only a year old and has a very good GFX card, so i find it unusual that it still stutters from regulary

There is no real AA support in D2.
