Please help me solving another problem! Now I am in very bad situation, because my game saves have been erased by the program. I've recovered some files but it's only 70%! Others have been overwritten by the system so it's impossible to retrieve all of them.

I'm in 4th act and I spent tens of hours playing BD! I want to finish it.

Please help me reconstruct my save.

If you need my recovered files I can upload them somewhere.

EDIT:
When I clicked on my new save (just 1 click) which I've created using my other recovered files from other saves BD suddenly crashed. What's going on?

If BD is crashing just selecting a save in the load window, it means there is a problem with either the shot.xxx (tga screenshot file) or, more likely, the quickinfo.000 file. Try replacing either or both of those files with ones from the next most recent save.

Are the saves you are combining the files from relatively close together? Mixing files from too different points in the game could result in broken quests, blocked locations, missing items, etc (which may or may not be fixable).

I don't know if Polish and English saves can be swapped between those language versions of the game, but if you can not get your combined save working, I still have all of my old saves (hero archer / DK warrior), and can find one at a similar point in the game.

If you want to upload your recovered files somewhere, I can take a look at them, assuming they will load in the English game version.

I mixed these files from save which I played recently (in 4th act, too)

I've uploaded 1 game. See the missing file list. Can you do anything with that?

If I replace the missing files with those from one of my act 4 saves, it crashes trying to load. That implies the different language versions are incompatible, one or more recovered files are corrupt, or both.

Unfortunately, the missing files are also a problem. The data.000 file contains all the information about your characters (level, stats, skills, etc), as well as all friendly and enemy NPCs. The story.000 file contains quest information, and the world.x0 file information about the game world (levers, locked/unlocked doors, walls, quest opened locations, etc). I'm guessing the inv.i1 file keeps track of the inventory in containers (its size roughly doubles after entering the BF, when lots of containers get added with the dungeons). If you have to replace the data and story files, you might as well replace the whole save.

This may just crash trying to load, but here is my save at the end of act 3 (4.3MB). If it works I can find a save closer to where you were in the game.

If it doesn't work, in a new game it is relatively easy to hex teleport to the stairs that are the exit to act 1 (boosting your level, etc, appropriately and maybe hex teleporting behind the counter at the citadel armoury to pick up some equipment). You could either do the quest to get the summoning doll or do the inventory file swap procedure. There are a couple conversations you would have to have in act 2, but you may be able to skip most of it using the inventory file procedure to get the ingredients for the cure and then hex teleport to the alchemist. You need to do a number of quests in act 3 to trigger the encounter with Kiya, so couldn't avoid redoing stuff there.

You could try just making a copy of the Bd_act4_start folder, and then hex edit it to boost your level. You'll also need gold to buy equipment from the BF merchants, and learn skills, etc. You can also hex edit to enable skills or increase the level cap (if the trainers were in areas you skipped, etc).

I tried to load your save - it causes crashing so English save is incompatible with Polish version of game.

I tried to mix files with my original files with other files located in Bd_act4_start folder. The game won't load - so file swapping will only damage the save.

Another question - is it possible to change the hero name, appearance or gender in Bd_act4_start?

Yes. You can hex edit the name in the quickinfo.000 file. It is also listed in the data.000 file, but the easiest way to change the name (and gender/appearance) there would be to start a new game with your character options, then copy the character data from the data.000 file in the new save to that file in the copy of the Bd_act4_start folder, and then edit to add experience points, etc. See below.

Changing Act using Hex Editer??

Let me know if you need any help with the hex editing (you can email me, or upload the data.000/quickinfo.000 files from the copy of Bd_act4_start and the new save).

At the start of act 4 my characters were level 25 (5310128 experience points), though that could have been a little higher if I had done any of the BF dungeons and quests. My hero had 3 extra stat points from permanent potions found earlier in the game, plus direct boosts to hit points and mana (an extra couple stat points should take care of that).
