Hello everyone, it was quite some time that I was waiting for a big sale to buy this game.
Finally I thought I could buy it for less than 20 bucks (that was the price before the summer sale began) but the full price now (without the -40%) is at 40 bucks, meaning that the game now is 24 bucks on sale...
So it basically went up of 4 bucks during sales!

Larian why are you doing something like this? I always thought you were a quality software house, I really didn't expect something like this from you.
I loved divine divinity and I also just rebought it when it made on steam (nevermind that after just 3 days it went on sale for one or two bucks less)...

I'm quite disappoint to your behavior with the price. It's simply outrageous if you really raised the price so you could fool the customers making them think that it's actually on sale.
I sure hope it's just a mistake. I only played divinity 2 once and I loved it, I really hoped for a good deal both to own a great game and to finance a SH that I thought it was good but if things are really like this I guess you won't see my money.

AFAIK it is Steam that determines the price point and sales. Gamersgate and Amazon's prices are also $40 for the download version (no current sales there).

Steam is known for notoriously charging more from Europe than from America.

Steam decides the prices for games, not larian, besides Divinty 2 - The dragon knight saga is worth well over £30 in my opinion

For those in the US, Amazon has the download version of DKS on sale for $6 this weekend (along with a bunch of other games).

Steam occasionally add or removes the discounts so you most likely caught it when discount was removed. That is original price, I believe. Oh wait no, it was 45$ when I checked it first time in the day of release.

yea, thats sucks for me because i live in the UK, and since completing D2:DKS i have convinced 2-3 friends to try the demo on steam, they all said they'll wait for a sale to get it, and now a few days after they said that it on sale in the US but not in UK -_-

Steam/Valve are notorious for neglecting European customers. As far as I know they convert currencies 1:1.

the UK isn't part of europe so UK are treated fairly to the US, £30 for divintiy 2 the dragon knight saga and i believe its roughly $48 in US, its common that europe gets ripped off, rarely do UK, and none of the time in the US as the prices are based upon US dollars.

For Steam, they don't convert (anymore ?) currency using 1:1

There is also usually a tax issue. In France, all prices are shown "tax included" (tax is 19,6%) while in the US all prices are shown without including the tax.

With a euro being worth around 1.25$, it balances out (somewhat) if your retailer is based in France (so you have to pay the tax).

Thats about the only problem with steam is how european customers get ripped off, i dont get affected but it still annoys me.

but hey, atleast the games are cheap and always go on sale eventually

I guess Russia not being counted as EU since we have quite different price range, usually lower than US' or UK's.
Can't complain, hehe.
