I am not sure if it is possible, because I haven't played the beta in a while. But if not, please, add sort by item type option in the "All" view of the inventory.
Yes the side tabs might make this redundant when you have ton of items (which is when they shine), but when you only have handful of items on your characters the side tabs feel clunky and unnecessary when you would only want to see items in single view grouped by their type.
To me personally the relative order of types when they are sorted by type would be irrelevant (because what I am looking for is not really a sort function but a group by function) but I am guessing there would be some orders more popular than other such as Sorting by type with consumables and or equipment preceding other items such as crafting and "junk".
