I also had problem on casual with Zeppelin Escort, until i manage to find the tactic. The tactic is as many already said simple, one need to fly away from the Zeppelin as far as you can get simultaneously when killing the nest and ballistas. Keeping a range distance from zeppelin, and the game is easy.

Checked for sure this time, and true enough... what I was wearing as Dragon in the Hall of Echoes appears in your inventory during this FoV sequence.
None of the battle tower ones though, you have to manually take them out of the box...

One other thing during the escort - make sure you stay near the line of floating arrows, as that
is the path the zeppelin will take. I found out the hard way that if you drift too far away the
zeppelin is destroyed post haste.

Yep. It's easy to not notice them, but they're there. If you can't see them get just in
front of the zeppelin at it's altitude, and look in the direction it's flying, and they should be obvious.

Just finished the game for the first time; and I didn't have any problem with the escort mission even though I was playing on the hardest difficulty available to me. I did notice that the armor I was wearing at the end of ED was in my inventory when I took dragon shape, and quickly swapped out the junk I started the scenario with. I think the +40% Offensive and +40% Mana helped quite a bit.

Otherwise I just flew ahead of the Zeppelin with right click and destroyed all the buildings. I didn't bother with the flying enemies and just let the Zeppelin kill them. By the end the Zeppelin was only down to about 70% and I never paid it any attention at all. I didn't even notice I had a new skill called Bombardment until the very end and I never used it once. I also never used Wyvern Friend.

Trick seemed to be A) Use right click to get to those enemy towers ASAP, don't wait for the Zeppelin even if it complains about getting to far ahead. B) One fire sphere while you are closing on a ballista + Fire Breath destroys a ballista in about a second.

I can sympathize with those having difficulty, this game has a penchant for unexpected spikes in difficulty. However, having said that I can give a few pointers on what I did.

Difficutly: Nightmare, Zeppelin is 95%+ health upon Captain announcing a suicide run. Few moments before the cutscene, Zeppelin is reduced to 75% in a matter of seconds (freakin cluster of islands near the end did that. Question is, would the cutscene have been halted if it died there?). I don't have a vid but only a save game when the last leg was announced.

What I did
- As others have said already, fly ahead... never wait... and kill more.
- Ignore flyers and concentrate on structures (nests are the least priority. I destroyed a few cause there's a point where there's nothing else to kill but nests. But IIRC there are nests surrounded by towers, I nuked those.)
- Always think of the next island you're going to nuke. Every time my nuke is recharged there's a big cluster of structures in front of me to use it on. Also, keep an eye on your mana and the nuke recycle time, make sure you have enough mana to dish out the nuke when its ready for use again. So, in effect, you're using your nuke regularly.
- Always prioritize the structures near the path of the Zeppelin (good thing the path is highlighted with golden arrows). Kill outwards.

well, I think everything I can come up further has already been mentioned so I'll stop here. The mission is not impossible. There are situations in other parts of the game that I think is a lot worse than this.

Well if what I said didn't work then there's only one explanation... I was just lucky.

After a search on the forum I came across thistopic wink

Thanks for the tips, because I try so far 3 times, but loose frown ...
It seems to me playing on PC is more comforteble for this kind of mission ?
I play on Xbox and those damned flying enemies ! Every time I try to focus on a Balista, the camera focus wish to focus on a flying enemy ! That's not funny ... .
So I loose time .

With the new insigths now I hope I've more luck next time, otherwise I lower the difficulty, maybe it can help a little bit ? (by the fight with Zagan even on Casual it was a little nightmare eek ! )

sorry to hear that. My game is for the PC so I wouldn't know much about the xbox. I'm guessing that the console is using auto-targeting? I don't know how the auto-targeting works in the xbox, does it function for the closest enemy to you or the closest enemy near the targeting reticle?

However, maybe you could use the dragon rush (dash or something) so that the balista is immediately closer to you thus for either case it should auto-target the balista.

BTW Zagan, that's the "oh bugger" last words wasn't it? smile
I had difficulty with that too (nightmare mode) but, the last time I played I went straight for the nest and it was manageable.

I make it with the Zeppelin Escort smile But I lower the difficulty to Casual !
I set on the difficulty back to nightmare, but Ygerna was like "casual" as the Zeppelin Escort was as nightmare on Casual :hihi: ... pffff ....

The idea of escorting a Zeppelin is nice, really good idea, but I hope if such escort ever comes back a a next game, make it a little bit "slower" ! It was fun to burn down Ballista's etc, but I haven't had the TIME to really enjoy this battle because it was a hurry, otherwise the Zeppelin goes down before he reach the place where it "successful" crashed into Ygerna's Fortress ...

I am very enthousiastic about Flames of Vengeance, but please, next time make a End-battle in that way :
the hero must/can combine human & dragon form in one area ... ! To find out when it's good to be in dragonform or when it's better in humanform it's all up to the gamer his/her strategical plan .
On that way there's more posible to play it successful in different ways ! Each gamer has his/her own playstyle and via the Skills it's great to choose those skills that suits best !
For example :
I'm a slow player, so skills as Stun Arrows, Polymorph, Chaarm, Blind, Hide in Shadows, etc.. give me MORE time to think about next move or run away :hihi: )

But during the Zeppelin Escort mission at the Black Ring Armada (great name, great looking place),
I can't say I had the time ... to loose some "seconds" to fly a little back or whatever . I only concentrate on the Ballista's and use the Eye of the Patriarch on the bigger groups of Ballista's etc ... even on Casual difficulty !

here is my tips :

first you should see that line trip our zeppelin, make sure you go first as far as you can + as fast as you can to clear that ballista, lightning tower or nest who in that way...........

second you should use your ultimate skill A.K.A. eye of patriach in worthy I mean use eye patriach to fresh land with surrounding ballista or nest

I didn't use fire breath but I always cast my fireball on time, after recharge don't keep you fireball skill waste just use it to ballista and nest when you can cast for it...............
