Always

Party

Do you prefer single player or multiplayer?
If I have internet connection and I don't have to subscribe (pay for online use of game) to the game online then multiplayer, but in the most likely event Single Player. My answer is Multiplayer.

No. But being a RPG increases the probability that I will buy it
In Antwort auf:

How do you decide to buy an RPG?reviews, word of mouth, forums?

Mostly word of mouth, sometimes even just walking through the shop, look at the boxes and ask the dealer (well, only in two special shops where I know those who sell there).
In Antwort auf:

Do you cheat/ use hacks/editors?

Never, at least never in the first go through. Later perhaps to see what else is possible.
In Antwort auf:

Do you use walk throughs?

No. And if I get stuck completely I try finding resources (e.g. something like this board here) where I can post specific questions.
In Antwort auf:

Do you download the latest patch before you start a game?

When I find it: Yes.
In Antwort auf:

Do you prefer single character or party?

Depends on the game and the layout. Both things are interesting.
In Antwort auf:

Do you prefer single player or multipalyer?

Single player. For multiplayer, I prefer Pen&Paper

Will you buy an RPG just by the fact that it is an RPG?

No. Diablo series is tagged as RPGs, and so is Dungeon Siege. That does not make them anything more than action games with stats and levels.

How do you decide to buy an RPG?reviews, word of mouth, forums?

I mostly buy them on a whim. This is how I picked up PS:T and DD.

Do you cheat/ use hacks/editors?

Yes, because there are occasions when bugs occur and some of your items go poof, or a quest is not solvable, etc.

Do you use walk throughs?

Only when I have to.

Do you download the latest patch before you start a game?

Yes.

Do you prefer single character or party?

Both have their appeals. Single character is a bit lonely, though, and a party offers more tactical creativity. (Bar Dungeon Siege, mind you. I've never played a more mindless piece of horse manure. Dungeon Sige makes Diablo 2 look good.)

Do you prefer single player or multipalyer?

I'm anti-social, and have stomached all the multiplayer I want to from things like EQ. Besides, I don't work well with other people.

Will you buy an RPG just by the fact that it is an RPG?
NO, but it does increase the chances of buying

How do you decide to buy an RPG?reviews, word of mouth, forums?
Reviews tops the list, then Forums, demos & word of mouth

Do you cheat/ use hacks/editors?
NO, only as a last resort if completely stuck, or on the second time through

Do you use walk throughs?
NO to Seldom, prefer other sources- forums

Do you download the latest patch before you start a game?
YES, if available and able to locate one

Do you prefer single character or party?
Single, Party, Both- depends on the game

Do you prefer single player or multipalyer?
Single player, mulit-player oever the net if it cost nothing

Most people like to know a little about a game other than the fact that it's an RPG and this is found out through game reviews and forums. It is great to see that people do not use cheats/hacks and try to play the game without outside help for the most part. There are times when one does need some help and can find it on a forum for the game. Single player has both advatages and disadvantages or a party and vise-versa, but it seems single player is the most choosen. Single player beats out multi-player unless it is for free, (free? what's that).
My hope for these questions is that Larian Studios will see them and take them into consideration in there next game after RiftRunner.

Thanks everyone for you input. I am glad to see that I am not the only one that shops and plays RPG this way.

Nope.

Word of mouth from forums mostly.

Do you cheat/ use hacks/editors?
Nope.

Do you use walk throughs?
Only when I get truly stuck.

Do you download the latest patch before you start a game?
Yup.

Do you prefer single character or party?
Depends. I think party play gives greater versatility though.

Do you prefer single player or multipalyer?
Single most of the time. I will play with my friends, helping each other out can be very good fun. Multiplayer internet games should have a feature where BOTH people agree before dueling IMO.
