I think that goes back to my other gripe: "Stay a while and listen!"

Think of it as you need to be calm down first. You're full of adrenaline when you have a weapon readied and your likely to smash anything you can. Press C to Calm down first and then open the barrell. I think restricting the players actions and putting words in their mouth like that is too much.

Great interpretation, friend :0).
I am completely against those stupid pop ups.

<sweatdrop>

have BARRELS ever dissappeared? i've got a few darkened barrels i'm using to carry my stuff...

if they do, what is a safe method to save one's things (you'd think such a bug would have been addressed in a patch along with the broken skills/spells )?

I haven't had a barrel disappear yet. Only chests (both empty, thankfully). You can store stuff safely on the ground. It just gets messy.

I once played Drakan, and there was one really cool thing : the parts of broken barrels were just objects you could push around. Until they disappeared. I like that. Kicking them around like playing soccer.

best barrel bashing good time to be had = severance: blade of darkness... the physics displayed when one bashes a box or crate (or multiple boxes and crates... yum...) is incredible (actually slashing apart opponents was even more fun... like playing teeball or golf with a goblin's head and watching blood drip off the walls wherever it lands...)... that was one of the most underrated and underappreciated (and amazing) games i'd ever played... it's a real pity that it never sold well (for some reason unknown to me... the gameplay beats the hell out of a similar game that sold much better, gothic :| ) and the company that made the game disbanded soon after completing it (bankruptcy... :| ) thus killing any chance for a sequel... i suggest everyone to at least give this game a try (if you can find a copy, buy it) just to experience it... it's most definitely one of if not the best 3rd person action game i've ever played

Okay speakin of Blade of Darkness. It is a pretty cool looking game, but sometimes the control is sucky. My character is currently still trying to get through that one area where the plates in the floor are. No matter how I step the dude he gets spiked and dies! So now the game sits on the shelf. It made me mad after awhile. What can I say? I was really liking it untill then!

In my opinion, barrel bashing should be throwen out of the game... like sure looks more "real" and stuff, but like why? whats the point? and locked barrels? how exactly do you lock a barrel? and why loscking it when somen can just bash it? generaly bashing barrels is useless and provides noting but problems
