How in the Hell does one protect oneself from Hell Spikes???? I have killed all the other Black Ring members except Josephine...and I cannot beat that Bit...I mean Witch. I use Magic Sheild and summoned a Deathknight...and I still can't win. And none of my spells seem to work either. Please...you are all so wise...share some of your knowledge with this one...

You only can run out of Hell Spikes, nobody have chance against it, try death scorpions to kill her. Use potions and the scorpions.

Warrior:
Drink a shadow potion and wait until her Blind spell wears off, then attack. Even when you are blinded, area effect spells which do not need a target will do damage (Hell Spikes, Elemental Hail...). If you drink a shadow potion and use the warrior's spin attack near (but not directly on) a creature, you will hit it without turning visible. Freeze weapons are useful, too

Mage:
Do you have Curse? A few casts of that before switching the Elemental Hail will make the attack much more effective. You can drink a shadow potion if Josephine casts Blind on you, to wait for it to wear off. Area effect spells that do not require a target (Hell Spikes, Elemental Hail...) may not turn you visible (don't know, never tried), but even if they do, they will work when you are blind. Blind / Hell Spikes works well against Josephine, if you get her first, or survive until her spell wears off.

I killed what most people think is the toughest boss in the game (Josephina) in less than 3 seconds by doing the following:
Killing Josephina
4 quick curses (level 5), freeze (level 4), 4 leeches (level 5), one hellspike (level 5). if you can click fast enough, you should be able to beat my time.

If you have a spare skill point, level 1 of the survivor's Deadly Gift combined with a couple scorpion traps would make it an easy fight. You can run up the ladder after releasing them...

I take it not much of your equipment has a vitality bonus? Even as a warrior with only a single stat point put into intelligence, towards the end of the game I had over 500 magic points from equipment bonuses.

what i did was just stand there hitting her with my sword of gods hehe killed her in like from 1 to a min and 30 seconds

Thanks Madame Kiya...I think I'm screwed. ;-) I am a mage...and I have the sword of the gods...but no curse, no hellspikes...bummer. But now I know why I couldn't hit a damned thing...I was struck blind (I couldn't figure out what that white 'eye'symbol meant). Thanks for the counsel. Sigh........

What i did - release a dread knight on her...that will keep her occupied, so she can't cast blind on you, then run up to her, and hack with your sword. Don't give her anytime to breath, and she should die. If she is distracted, she can't cast any of her spells. Keep on top of her!

Josephine summons a death knight first, then casts a spell on it, then casts Blind... in that order, without skipping any steps. Similar to what Carrie suggested, if you interrupt her spell (maybe try Flash Attack, if you have it), she will keep trying to complete the summoning and never move on to casting Blind. As a warrior, with a sword and Stun, I just ran up and whacked her right after the conversation ended, and didn't loose a hit point.

Which spells do you have, Redwitch? Please, list them and the levels, too.
I was blinded very often as a mage and did not have enough shadow potions, so I simply ran out of the room and waited for the spell to wear off. I drank resistance potions, healed myself, drank mana and ran back again.

What about Deadly Discs? This kills her deadknight and touches her, if you have the correct radius. And what about polymorph? Even lvl 1 is sufficient. If you play at version 1.34, no bug will happen.

Ahhh...Resistance potions...what are those please ma'am? By the way...I am not in the Dark Forest...I'm in the Dungeon Lake hideout in the Wasteland...

I know, the Sword of Gods gave it away - purple potions, they boost your resistances temporarily.

yellow + white = purple (boosts resistances, temporary), you can mix them with lvl one of alchemy skill. NOT the purple elixiers!!!

Your demonice aide is high, cast that, let the death knight take some hits for you, and hit her with your sword as fast as you can.

Yes, the hellspikes hurt me but my mage hopped away and I had Spellshield and Aura of Guarding maxed out. and if she blinded me, I ran out of the room.

Banish is good, you can banish her deadknights, poof

I'd do what Carrie says: Cast deadknight and banish hers - then try out this:

how far are you from leveling up, to get one point in survivor curse? This would make things easier.

Thank you for your input, Carrie. So...does Josephina have a finite number of death knights she can send...or is it unlimited? Could I just send in my Aides and eventually just wear her down (I HATE her).

I suppose I could just junk this game and start over with the aim of being more prepared next time...but I'd hate to do that...

She casts dead knights until she's dead - banish them, you've got the spell.

Yes ma'am...Josie is the last of the Ring before I get to The Chaos Demon (or whatever his name is)...I'd hate to just scrap everything and go back to the beginning. And when you mentioned 'buying spells'...if you buy the 'book' does that confer the powers too? I wasn't sure about that...I've just been selling the books to get money for potions...Sheeesh!

Yes, if you buy a book and click on it: you have one lvl more - lvl 5 is the max. So, go back to Kroxy and check. I bought every book I could lay hands on.

And alchemy lvl 1 is sufficient to mix potions blue and red = white, very effective for mana and health.

red + blue = white (restoration, brings back mana and vitality pts)
yellow + blue = black (shadow, makes invisible, temporary)
yellow + red = orange (strength, boots strength, temporary)
yellow + white = purple (boosts resistances, temporary)

1.Banish her deadknight and summon yours
2. hit her with your sword (take strength potions) or use your high leveled spells
2. take a shadow potion if she blinds you until the spell wears off

If you're in trouble, run out, heal yourself with white potions, take the purple ones to resist, cast both protection spells, summon again, go in, banish hers and use spells or hit her
