My names Brim I just started divinity 2 ego draconis I would like to be a mage but I have no clue how to go about this within the game. I went in as a warrior/priest on my first try with a sword and shield but I got thrashed on lvl 12 with amudusias slaughtering me in 1 shot. I need help plz.

Amdusias is level 15, so it would be better if you were at least 14/15 as well (level 15 gives access to the Healing spell, Explosive Arrows, etc). Rush Attack (or Hide in Shadows to get close, etc) will force him to switch to a melee weapon, so he can no longer use Explosive Arrows on you. You should finish off the rest of Broken Valley before going through Maxos temple (or at least before fighting Amdusias; there are a couple teleporter shrines there you can use to leave and return).


Are you playing the original release of D2:ED, or that part of DKS? There are a few differences in the releases which effect character builds, especially for mages.

Thank you for your help with that matter I play D2 ego draconis it has been a difficult game for me but a fun one. I've played other games like Dragon Age origins, oblivion, skyrim, this game has more versatility I think then the others and its really fun. The problem one was I usuallly jump and other things away from my enemy but from this particular enemy its just a line no where to run to anytime I go towards or run away dead one single shot. If you finish off Broken Valley and still have trouble with Amdusias, you can head to the fjords (using the mountain path to the far south west in Broken Valley) to level some more. In D2:ED I went to the fjords after Maxos temple, and made it to level 18 (in DKS I did some before and some after and got to level 22, thanks to changes in some opponents and experience, as well as increases in early quest experience, etc, for DKS).

If you run and jump at an angle, Amdusias will have a harder time hitting you (the path isn't really wide, but it isn't so narrow you have to run straight towards him, either). Having your creature and/or a summon active may help, as well, if he targets them rather than you. There is a high point in the path that if you stand behind at the right spot you will be able to target Amdusias, but his arrows will be blocked (including explosive arrows).


BTW when you finish off Amdusias you will get access to Sentinel Island. Your first encounter there you can mindread to go up a level, so the higher level you are the more of an experience bonus that will be. You don't need to get to a high level, but it would be better if you got to a new level before entering, to get a full level bonus (equip anything you have with a Wisdom boost).
